Sweet little Nibbler (Holland Lop) came to me in May of 2006 an unwanted pet from his previous home (previously called Patches).
From the very first day I loved him so much I wanted to cuddle him all the time. He was a very clever boy who learned his name very quickly, and seemed to prefer Nibbler to his previous name. I called him Nibbler because he would eat just about everything.
He was a very loving little lad and full of fun and full of life. Not a fat bunny, he was too busy for that but always a soft silky sweetie who loved his treats and veggies, running around his outdoor run and digging.
In November 2007 he became ill with breathing difficulties and the vet wanted to put him to sleep, I said unless he was suffering I would keep him as long as I could. With constant medication and lots of TLC we kept him well over a year after that.
Sadly in 2009 his health declined and his breathing got worse and in spite of our best efforts and an operation in January, he passed away in the Afternoon of Monday, 23rd March 2009.
An hour before he passed he was happily eating a piece of fresh carrot!
"Good night my sweet Nibbler.
I'll miss my little 'puppy dog' bun, hope you're having a happier time in Bunny Heaven, with all the Dandelions you can eat."
Beyond the Rainbow
As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade.
I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.
I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful -- lush and green and wide!
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be!
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.
I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright Glow pierced the night.
'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold.
For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,
We are still connected by a cord no eye can see.
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.

For Nibbler, xxx.
God saw you were getting tired and a cure was not to be.
So He put his arms around you and whispered, "Come to Me."
With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating, hard working paws to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us;
He Only Takes The Best

There's something missing in my home
I feel it day and night,
I know it will take time and strength
Before things feel quite right.
But just for now, I need to mourn
My heart -- it needs to mend,
Though some may say, "It's just a pet"
I know I've lost a friend.
You've brought such laughter to my home
And richness to my days,
A constant friend through joy or loss
With gentle, loving ways.
Companion, friend, and confidante
A friend I won't forget,
You'll live forever in my heart
My sweet, forever pet.
